Google can update your profile when it gets reports that your info isn't accurate, and the public can suggest edits too. Open Edit profile on your Business Profile: Google says info it changed shows in blue, with a notice at the top of the page. Keep what is right and correct what is wrong.
Find what changed
Google says it gathers business info from sources that include user reports and licensed content.
- Sign in with the account that manages the profile and open your Business Profile on Google Search or Maps.
- Select Edit profile.
- Look for the notice at the top and for text in blue. Google says black or white text means no update from Google.
- Accept the changes that are right. Edit the fields that are wrong and save your own values.
Why your own edit is pending or not approved
Google reviews edits to verified profiles before they go live. It says most take up to 10 minutes but some take up to 30 days. Each edit ends up in one of three states:
- Accepted: the new info shows on your profile.
- Pending: Google is still reviewing it.
- Not approved: Google could not confirm it was accurate. Google says you might be able to appeal.
Changing your name or address can also mean verifying the business again.
Keep your website consistent
Google may publish edits backed by your website, so an out-of-date website can undo your own fixes. Make the name, address, phone number and hours on your website match your profile exactly, then check other directories and old listings that repeat the same details.
Common problems
- Google keeps changing my hours back.
- Look for where the wrong hours appear in public: your website, other directories, old listings. Correct them there, then edit your profile again. Google says you can always edit your profile directly.
- I missed the 4 days to respond.
- Edit the field yourself and save the right value. Google reviews it like any other edit.
- My edit has been pending for days.
- Google says review can take up to 30 days. Avoid changing the same field again in the meantime, so it is clear which edit is being reviewed.
- My edit was not approved.
- Google declines an edit when it can't confirm the info. Make sure your website, signage and other listings show the same details, then try again or appeal where Google offers it.
Correct your info with Reach
Reach's profile page edits your name, description, categories, hours, phone numbers, website and links, and publishes them when you press Save to Google. After each save it lists what reached Google, what stayed in Reach and why, and what Google refused, so you can see which fixes did not go through.
