Set your special hours first, then publish three posts per festival: one with the new hours, one on the last day to order or book, one when you reopen. Below are this season’s dates for India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, with festival post text to copy.
Which festival dates matter this season?
The dates below come from Google’s public holiday calendars for each country, read on 9 October 2026, and the holiday hours planner reads the same calendars. Dates marked tentative follow a moon sighting or a government announcement, so confirm them the week before. A public holiday does not decide your hours; your staff and customers do.
Do not copy one country’s calendar to another. A Chennai clinic, a Kuala Lumpur café and a Bangkok salon close on different days.

What do I set before I post?
A post cannot change your opening hours. Enter each changed date as special hours first, using the steps in the holiday hours guide, then publish the posts. Google says edits can take up to 3 days to appear, so set them at least a week before the first changed date.
How many posts does a festival need?
Three, each with one job. The first goes out 7 to 10 days before your first changed date and gives the new hours and how to order or book. The second goes out 2 to 3 days before your cut-off and names the last day. The third goes out on the day you reopen.
Publish them as updates. Use the event type only for a dated occasion with a start and end, and see the posts guide for types and the reasons Google rejects a post.
What should a Diwali post say?
Here is a full sequence for a sweet shop that stays open late for Diwali and closes on Govardhan Puja. Replace the times, the shop name and the link with yours.
Diwali hours at [shop name]: Fri 6 Nov 8:00 to 23:00, Sat 7 Nov 8:00 to 23:30, Sun 8 Nov 8:00 to midnight. Closed Mon 9 Nov for Govardhan Puja. Order Diwali boxes by Thu 5 Nov, 6 pm, for pickup on the day you choose: [order link] or call [phone].
Last chance to order Diwali boxes: Thu 5 Nov, 6 pm. After that we can only sell what is in the shop on the day. Order here: [order link].
We are open again from Tue 10 Nov, 9:00 to 21:00. Today’s fresh batch: [item]. Thank you for celebrating with us.
What about Christmas, Tet, Hari Raya and Songkran?
One post each is enough when your hours only change once. Keep the date, the time and the action in the first line, because that is what a customer scans for.
Christmas at [restaurant name]: dinner seatings at 6:30 and 8:45 pm on Thu 24 Dec, lunch only on Fri 25 Dec, 12:00 to 16:00. Tables are held for 15 minutes. Book by Mon 21 Dec: [booking link] or call [phone].
We are closed from Fri 5 Feb to Wed 10 Feb for Tet and reopen on Thu 11 Feb at 9:00. Orders placed by Thu 4 Feb, 5 pm, go out before the break: [shop link]. Chúc mừng năm mới!
Hari Raya orders at [bakery name]: collect Mon 8 to Wed 10 Mar, 8:00 to 18:00. Last order Sat 6 Mar, 6 pm: [order link]. We are closed Thu 11 and Fri 12 Mar and reopen Sat 13 Mar.
[Clinic name] is closed from Tue 13 to Thu 15 Apr for Songkran. For urgent care call [phone]. We reopen on Fri 16 Apr at 9:00, and you can book routine visits now: [booking link].
What do I check after the festival?
Look at the profile on Search and Maps the day you reopen: the special dates should have ended and your regular hours should show again. If a booking tool or another listing still shows the old hours, use the guide to fixing business information across listings.
Plan your festival hours
The free holiday hours planner lists each country’s holidays so you can choose the dates you will change and note the staff who confirms them.
