How it works
- Pick what the photo is for: cover, logo, post or any other photo.
- Choose or drop the photo. It opens in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
- Drag the crop until it frames the shot, and check the phone preview.
- Download the JPEG and add it to your profile or post.
What you give and what you get
Google's stated limits come from its photo and video guidelines, checked on October 8, 2026. Google gives no separate size for the cover, logo or post photo, so those rows are Reach's recommended exports, sized to meet Google's 720 px recommendation.
| Photo | Size | Source |
|---|---|---|
| File format | JPG or PNG | Google Help |
| File size | 10 KB to 5 MB | Google Help |
| Minimum resolution | 250 × 250 px | Google Help |
| Recommended resolution | 720 × 720 px | Google Help |
| Cover | 1280 × 720 px (16:9) | Reach's recommendation |
| Logo | 720 × 720 px (1:1) | Reach's recommendation |
| Post | 960 × 720 px (4:3) | Reach's recommendation |
| Other photo | 960 × 720 px (4:3) | Reach's recommendation |
| Video | Up to 30 seconds, up to 75 MB, 720p or higher | Google Help |
Google can show the same photo in different shapes in Search, Maps and the app, so keep faces, text and products near the centre.
Method and limits
Cover photo: Google may still show another photo first, and replaces a low-quality cover with a customer photo. A sharp, well-lit wide shot of the place itself gives the cover the best chance.
Logo: shown small, often in a circle. Keep the mark in the middle with space around it, and use a plain background so it reads at a glance.
Post photo: the post card shows the top part of a tall photo, so a 4:3 landscape crop keeps the subject in view.
Privacy
The photo is read, cropped and saved as a JPEG inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded to Reach or anywhere else.
Worked example
An illustrative run for a café's cover photo, made up for this page:
- A 4032 × 3024 px phone photo of the café's front, 3.1 MB.
- Cover selected: the crop becomes 16:9 and is dragged up so the sign sits in the middle.
- The export is 1280 × 720 px, about 300 KB, and passes every Google limit.
The phone preview shows the sign clear of the logo circle, so the photo is ready to upload as the cover.
Questions
- What size should a Google Business Profile cover photo be?
- Google gives no cover size. Its limits for every photo are JPG or PNG, 10 KB to 5 MB, at least 250 × 250 px and 720 × 720 px recommended. A 16:9 crop at 1280 × 720 px meets those and suits the wide spot the cover sits in.
- What size should a Google Business Profile logo be?
- Square. 720 × 720 px meets Google's recommended resolution. Keep the mark centred, because Google often shows the logo in a circle.
- What size is a Google post photo?
- Google publishes no separate post size; the same photo limits apply. A 4:3 crop at 960 × 720 px keeps the subject in view on the post card.
- Is my photo uploaded?
- No. The photo is opened, cropped and saved as a JPEG inside your browser. It never leaves your device.
- Why is my photo rejected or not showing?
- Usually the file is outside Google's limits (format, 10 KB to 5 MB, at least 250 px), or Google's review found it low quality, heavily edited or against its content policy. The checks here catch the file limits.
